Gainers: Cascade Bancorp(CACB 0.49, +0.04, +8.89%) shares moved up 6.4% in the premarket. The Bend, Ore., parent of Bank of the Cascades will place $177 million of shares with investors to shore up its capital. Webmediabrands(WEBM 0.98, +0.04, +4.26%) shares advanced 4.3% before the bell. The New York operator of sites including mediabistro.com and others acquired TVspy.com from Vault Inc.
Losers: (AVNR 4.45, -0.17, -3.68%) shares were down 5.6% before the bell. The Aliso Viejo, Calif., drugmaker plans to sell common stock in a public offering. Christopher & Banks Corp. (CBK 5.78, -0.08, -1.37%) slipped 6.6% in premarket trading. The Minneapolis women’s-apparel retailer expects a third-quarter operating loss, an 8%-to-10% drop in same-store sales, and as much as a 6.5-percentage-point narrowing in gross-profit margin. Rino International Corp. (RINO 6.11, -1.04, -14.55%) shares fell 13% in the premarket. The Chinese producer of pollution equipment postponed its third-quarter-results conference call, which had been set for Tuesday evening. Dow Jones Newswires reported that a Hong Kong investment firm has claimed that Rino officials misstated sales and improperly diverted cash. Rino has said that it is reviewing the allegations
