The Givat Shmuel, Israel-based provider of computer-aided-design solutions swung to third-quarter profit of 4 cents a share from a loss of 8 cents in the prior year. Adjusted profit was 10 cents a share, a reversal from the prior year’s loss of 6 cents.Prospect Capital Corp.(PSEC 10.75, +0.25, +2.38%) shares climbed 10% in the premarket. The New York closed-end investment firm reported that for the quarter ended Sept. 30, net investment income rose to 28 cents a share from 25 cents a year earlier. The company also estimated the figure for the quarter to Dec. 31 at 26 cents to 30 cents a share.Sunesis Pharmaceuticals Inc.(SNSS 0.34, +0.03, +10.39%) shares jumped 21% in premarket trading. The South San Francisco biotech firm reported progress in Phase II clinical trials of vosaroxin combined with the chemotherapy cytarabin as a potential treatment for chronic myeloid leukemia.VCG Holding Corp. (VCGH 2.19, +0.33, +17.74%) added 7% in the premarket. The Denver operator of adult nightclubs definitively agreed to be acquired for $2.25 a share by its chief executive and its president. The deal price is 42% above the close on July 20, when the company received a non-binding proposal for the deal, and 22% above Tuesday’s close of $1.85.

AgFeed Industries Inc. (FEED 2.65, -0.48, -15.34%) shares slumped 20% before the market opened Wednesday. The New York agribusiness firm operating in the U.S. and China swung to a third-quarter loss of 43 cents a share from year-earlier profit of 7 cents The company wrote down the value of the intangible assets of its Chinese hog-production business by $16.8 million.
A123 Systems (AONE 8.85, -1.09, -10.97%) shares gave up 10% before the open. The Watertown, Mass., producer of lithium-ion batteries reported a third-quarter net loss that widened to $43.7 million from $22.8 million and said it moved back its plan to boost production to the second quarter of 2011 from the fourth quarter of 2010.
International Game Technology(IGT 15.75, -0.57, -3.49%) shares dropped 8.9% before trading opened. The Las Vegas producer of gambling equipment swung to fourth-quarter net income of 7 cents a share from a loss of 10 cents a share in the final three months of fiscal 2009. Adjusted profit from continuing operations was 18 cents in both periods. Revenue fell 3.2% to $496 million.
Smart Technologies Inc.(SMT 9.85, -3.22, -24.64%) (CA:SMA 13.30, 0.00, 0.00%) shares declined 16% in the premarket. The Calgary provider of collaboration solutions reported second-quarter profit fell 22% to US$44.3 million, or 38 cents a share. Smart is “factoring in a more conservative growth assumption for the North American market” in its forecast for the second half of the current fiscal year.
