Cummins Inc. (CMI 86.90, -7.59, -8.03%)  shares traded down 6.8% after the engine maker reported sales for the third quarter than came up shy of analysts’ expectations.
Plum Creek Timber Co.(PCL 35.00, -2.01, -5.43%)  shares sold off by 5.4%. Late Monday, the owner of U.S. timberlands reported third-quarter earnings that failed to meet expectations and trimmed its 2010 earnings outlook from continuing operations.
Prologis (PLD 12.20, -0.68, -5.28%)  shares fell 5% after the world’s biggest warehouse owner said it would lower its quarterly dividend.
Tellabs Inc. (TLAB 7.02, -1.04, -12.90%)  shares skidded 12% after the maker of communications equipment forecast fourth-quarter revenue that would be lower than analysts’ consensus projection.
